• Use netstat command to determine processes running in background and secretly consuming your internet speed; Block these services with the help of firewall. 
• Use Adblock plus to narrow out advertising ads on websites. 
• Use faster and lighter browsers with minimum of bloat. You can go for Google chrome according to me or whatsoever according to your research. 
• While browsing on internet, try to open new tab instead of new windows, this will take less bandwidth of the internet. 
• Try to use keyboard shortcuts to browse on the web, as this will reduce the time on internet. 
• Don’t have lots of tabs open at a time while surfing the web. 
• Use minimal number of toolbars, with lesser number of buttons while surfing the web.
